世界好感度調査 [備忘録]
BBCが2005年からやっているInfluence of Countriesという調査があるそうで、日本語にすると世界好感度調査みたいな感じかと思うが、日本はコンスタントに上位にいるらしい。2008年の結果ではドイツと並んで一位（http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/7324337.stm）。2007年はカナダと並んで一位とのこと。
世界の中の自分たちに関する自画像を描けるようにしていかないといけない。平和で優しくまじめなハイテクの国といったところか。

You are as young as your faith, as old as your doubt; as young as your confidence, as old as your fear; as young as your hope, as old as your despair.
So long as your heart receives messages of beauty, cheer, courage, grandeur and power from the earth, from man and from the Infinite, so long you are young.
When the wires are all down and all the central place of your heart is covered with the snows of pessimism and the ice of cynicism, then you are grown old indeed and may God have mercy on your soul.

8月30日付朝日新聞国際版 小山薫堂さんのインタビュー
「制度的な問題もあるのかもしれませんが、政治家を選んでいるのは私たち国民です。」政治の世界にスターが出てこないのはなぜか。時間はかかるが、やはり教育が大事だ。
こう考える人と、そうではなく、この国のエリートは堕落している、悪いのは国民ではない、魚は頭から腐る、という人がいる。自分は小山さんの説に賛成。他人のせいにするのは簡単だが、それは「自分は悪くない」といっていることでもある。自分を棚に上げて批判だけする姿勢には賛成できない。民主主義とは自分のこととして当事者として考えることだ。
もうひとつ、「棄民たちの戦場 米軍日系人部隊の悲劇」 橋本明 著 新潮社

「民主党は現世代の給付に熱心な一方、急速な少子高齢化に遭う将来世代への責任感が伝わってこない」
やっぱりそう思われているんだ。しかし、将来世代に関する後段はまだ遠慮がちだな。既に生まれてしまった人たちの人数を増やすことができない以上、少子高齢化は既に現実のものとして進行しているのであって、これから始まるものではない。それに、少子高齢化であるかにかかわらず、借金を将来世代につけまわして現世代に給付するなんていったいどういう了見なんだ。やるべきことは現世代が借金を返すことのほかない。
「民主党が公約した・・家計支援策は初年度の10年度に約7兆円。・・13年度には16.8兆円に広がる。」財源については「年金や国債返済の除く70兆円の歳出から9兆円の無駄を削る考えだ。」
無駄という言い方は誤解を招く。無駄には定義がないだろう。結局は、あるところへの歳出を削って他のところへまわすということだ。金持ちに対する補助金みたいな屋上屋を架すものが無駄の典型だろうが、いまどきそんなグラントなんてあるのかね（金持ちに対する子ども手当てはどうなの？）。公務員等の人件費は当然削減対象になるが、それでどれくらい出てくるのやら。
まあとにかくちゃんとやってもらいたいものだ。
